Do you think you have too much stuff? I have too much stuff, and I am realizing that more and more since I will be packing to move to a new house.

I'm sure I have too much stuff...stuff that I need to get rid of. I periodically go through things to see what I don't need.

That is the way to do it April. I should do the same, but mainly just clean out the closets once a year. But, I don't keep stuff that is broken and useless otherwise.

I collect collectables and some antiques....I've had people come in and say it looks like a museum or something to that effect.

I'd dread moving and having to move all this stuff.

I figure if I did move, that maybe I'd sell some of it off and just keep the best of it...but that would be hard to decide what to let go.

I can understand that Bee. I will not be taking the majority of my furniture, but still it will be hard to let some of it go. I do have a couple of book cases I want to take because they are so well made, of Real wood. Not like a lot are today.

There's not a lot to do around here as far as what other places might offer.

So, I got into collecting things for a hobby by going to yard sales and flee markets. I'd enjoy trying to find the good stuff at bargain prices and just ended up with a lot of stuff over the last 20 years from it.

Most of it, is fairly valuable, and bought cheap enough....the thing is, its getting harder to find the good stuff, or at decent prices...things have changed.

So, If I give up some stuff, I doubt I could replace it later.

This place is a bit to keep up with its land and etc and I figure in a few years, it might be time to downsize.

George Carlin described me pretty well when he talked about "stuff"

Its not cluttered in here like you see places on that " pickers show"...I've got it all laid out nicely enough, but I do sell off a few less desirable things now and then...to make space for better things or else I'd run out of space and have to stop collecting.

I've got a lot of nice antiques and collectables, and I enjoy the hunt for more.

So, I'll just continue what I've been doing and if I decide to downsize to an easier place to keep up.

I'll cross the bridge when it happens.

I know what you mean Bee. My land is a lot to keep up with. A few years ago, I even planted a fruit orchard but the varmints ended up taking most of the fruit. There is so much grass to mow and I have several flower gardens to maintain. When I move I am hiring someone to take care of the landscaping, so I can just sit back and relax and enjoy it.

I probably have to many DVD's. I think I have around 300. I am a huge movie buff, but don't need all of those because I have Netflix, and more. I Know I have too many clothes, but what the hell.

Oh, I love antiques! I don't have any but would like to.

With me....moving the furniture isn't the problem....its all the collectable stuff that would be a b*tch to box up and etc.

I got on a antique/reproduction clock thing once, and ended up with over 30 of them...

I said to myself....no more antique clocks or clocks of any kind.....

then I go somewhere and see a super deal on an awesome one and end up buying it...lol

I have so many smalls,...that's the problem.

The house I bought has much too much room for just me. Which allows me to keep many things that I inherited but have no use for in a spare bedroom upstairs. Mainly some of Dad's books, furniture, etc.

So I guess the short answer is yes. I got too much shit I don't really have any use for just laying about. But since there's so much room for it, it isn't really noticeable.

Although my brother and I have both gone through all of Dad's books and separated the ones we want from the ones we'll donate. But my brother keeps asking me to hold off because he wants to go through them like a 4th time.

I would tell my brother, "On this date we will go through Dad's books. You can take what you want. I will keep what I want. The rest I will do with whatever, and that is it."

I have so many small appliances, and really need a big kitchen with lots of cabinets.

After my diet ends in going to clean out my closet and go shopping. I don't have a lot of unnecessary things in the house. But I have a shop full of things: tools, freezer, motorcycle, etc. Would take a lot to move all that.

Just raise the shop up...put wheels under it and ad a hitch to it....and pull the whole thing with you....
