Nope.
Women fought for equal rights.
But you only want the rights that suit you?

Nope.

OP, first you need to define what you mean to imply by the word "provider".

A provider can be many things:

Sexual partner
Income maker
Strength
Parent
Helomeet

What do you mean?

Financially. Sex is just a natural part of a relation. Of course I think a man should support his kids. But I think kids at 30 should not be needing money or a cosigner.

E2W -- when you have children that are 30+ years old then you may have an informed opinion about whether or not those children should request a parent to be their co-signer. Until then, please opine on what you actually have personal knowledge about. TY

What a crock of BS, Sadistic!

The Family Medical Leave Law covers maternity leave. Do try to keep up.

I worked and had five children and supported myself, and shared the joint responsibilities of our marriage.

You dayum lazy assessment p*ssy-hot baby makers (some call you golddiggers) need to grow the fk up!

sure you did korbyn.

Maternity leave is not long.

Children really need to be cared for till preschool age because of how ridiculously expensive child care is and for bonding reasons.

B*tch -- of course, if you chose to stay at work up until your water broke -- that was your choice, so of course, your maternity leave would have started after your baby was born. That's a big DUH!

the only clothes you couldn't wash while you were at work were the ones you were wearing. Did you only have one change of clothes?

Absolutely NOT, east!

Women know EVERYTHING so they ought to use that knowledge to get themselves a really good paying CAREER. If there's nothing a mere man can do that a woman can't do infinitely better then it stands to reason she ought to be able to easily out earn any mere man and she should. She needs to pull her weight, show her potential, not be a goldbrick and if women want to criticize everything the guy does then she ought to go into MANAGEMENT where she is free to do so! And all women do is complain about the guy so she ought to get a CAREER and she the bum how it's done. Also, with a 50% divorce rate she'll probably dump the guy after a few months of marriage and how will she support herself then? Not as much alimony as in the old days, babe! Women won't cook or clean or run errands or take care of the house or take care of the kids or give the guy any loving so she better GET OFF HER FAT A** and contribute something to the relationship. If she won't do anything around the house then he needs to be making some kind of contribution and since women are better than perfect they ought to easily get a high paying career and out earn any man.

Yes, east! Think of the benefits to the arrangement! You get a high paying career. You get the long hours. You get the stress. You get the ulcer. You get the coronary. You get the bypass. (We'll have so much in common, east! I've already had mine!) You get the high pay. You get the benefits, maybe the travel. He gets to enjoy the big house, the grounds, all the toys, big screen TV, electronic toys, fancy car, supervise the "help" and sit on his butt doing what he likes and living life easy! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, who really has the better end of this deal, east? But YOU get to feel infinitely superior to this man and when he dumps you, you'll be paying HIM alimony so he can lead life in the "style to which he has become accustomed".

Maternal pride!?! WGAF

My 14 year old grandson just bought AND PAID OFF (cash) his first new pickup truck. Hell have Drivers Ed this year and get his permit by spring. He worked his arse off this summer to achieve his goal -- he didn't need a co-signer -- period -- even though he was under 30.

To answer Op question is a hard one. It depends on the culture of the two people who are married.

Most men in 2017 do not want to be the sole provider. Taking into account the rise of the cost of living I can't blame them.

At the same time it is difficult for women who have small kids to work consistently.

Driver I was working weekends while my husband (before we were together) was partying. Women can have more than a man but it's the mans place to provide. A woman needs time off to care for her children until school age.

Oh, sienna, women can warehouse the kids in daycare after a few weeks! You wouldn't do that to a dog, but women do it to kids all the time. The woman must support the man if she is the superior one. Get off your a** and get to work! You can't be b*tching about men all the time and then expect them to support you just so they can come home to a night of verbal abuse and your whining and your criticism. They never do anything right. If you're so perfect GET OFF YOUR A** and GET TO WORK!

And if the woman refuses a man any sex these days then children are not an option anyhow.

Seems to me this is just another example of the feminine double standard! If you're superior SHOW IT and GET TO WORK!!! It's the feminist way of life my dear. You don't want to be in the bondage of a mere housewife live your granny or great granny do you? A career is what women's liberation is all about. Cut the crap and GET TO WORK! No more of this feminist double standard. PROVE you're superior and GET A JOB!

If the guy was such a bum why did YOU marry him, east? He was YOUR choice!

There was a woman in church like this. As a young women she married. For 50, 60+ years she complained endlessly about the guy SHE picked and he supported her well and was a fine husband, father and grandfather. FINALLY Jesus has pity on the guy and takes him! Her tune then? "I'm lonely. I miss him" I was thinking "You should have appreciated him all the decades you had him"!!

He was YOUR pick, east! Or did you like the bad boy? Did you want to feel superior to the bum? Did you think you could reform him? YOU picked him! YOU knew what YOU were getting into. What did YOU expect?

She's thinking I sound like her father if she would have bothered to ask him his opinion! This is why a girl needed father's consent in the old days.

I weighed 108 pounds, E2W, when I had my first child -- I had gained 12 pounds -- my child weighed 8 pounds -- You're a liar or you was severely anorexic if you didn't wear a larger size clothing to term.

Add to that argument that you were, also, an ignorant preggie -- and your dentist was ignort, too if he/she treated you in your last tru-mester.

well, for one... Nowadays, peeps are getting hit up to apply for credit cards when they leave home to go to college. Most are not prepared or have the proper knowledge/know-how to properly 'use' credit-- thereby, many are 'f**king-up' their credit not realizing how important it is 'later' on. Thus, needing a cosigner for major loans etc.

You know, cup, if the guy slipped her a mickey then he ought to GO TO JAIL! Did they ever get Cosby for that? And how about that guy from the Packers? (No offense, Packer) Was it Darren Sharper? He's a ward of the state for decades now. Instead of marrying the bum she should have called the cops and had him ARRESTED, gone home to mama and stayed out of bars. I thought they didn't approve of drinking in Baptist Georgia. No woman should marry a guy that irresponsible. She wasn't the first you can bet on that and no doubt not the last either. She should have call the cops so they could bust the bum and spared a lot of women from being raped because that's what it is. But she marries the bum and takes the shame on herself when he ought to be taking the shame with an arrest, a conviction and a long prison sentence and reporting as a predatory sexual offender forever.

I didn't have children.
Why should my wife have stayed home doin nothin?

A relationship is sposed to be between equals.
Me busting my a** to pay all the bills (which I did, along with providing a home,a car and all the other balls and whistles)
While she went off having fun with her friends all day, then expecting I should also help with the housework
Is not equals.
The woman should be helping pay the bills, buy her clothez, makeup, cars etc.

Key word here...EQUALS

not a free ride just because you are a woman.

You have equal rights.
That means its your right to contribute, not to be a user

Purdi I think you are right about that But it would be scary to cosign for someone who already has bad credit.

To me Its crazy to give a kid a 20% down payment for a house unless his home and car were paid off. There are mortgages for as little as $100 down. Doing that for 2 kids is A lot of money.

What do you mean? like the traditional roles? I think that is something that a couple would have to discuss going in. I mean, I can't be expected to work a full-time job and be responsible for having dinner on the table at 5pm. On the flip side, I don't think I would ever have a problem making sure my man had a hot meal ready for him to eat... if I wasn't working outside of the home... I mean, he's providing for me-- I'm gonna, happily, take care of all his NEEDS in order to make it "easier" for him to do so.

EXACTLY, freckle! If she's got all day to gossip with the girls, watch the soaps and complain she could at least be doing the housework. If she's a goldbrick then housework IS her work and she should have a go at the lawn and trimming the hedges too as she has plenty of time!

If this is domestic slavery then she ought to GET A JOB! They don't want equal rights, freckle, they want superior rights and in todays PC world they have them! They ought to GET OFF THEIR complaining ASSES and GET A JOB! This isn't the 50s girls!

Stl I think that is great. Buying young so you can relax without a mortgage later.

Freckle not having would make a difference but there is still supper to cook, house to clean, and laundry to do. At 45 I'm not looking to work from before the Sun is up till after the Sun goes down. Life should be enjoyable at some point.

Driver women still cook clean and do laundry. You are thinking of your batchlor life. My daughter ask me to clean her dads house because he Doesnt.
